President’s Message

Dear Esteemed Members of the Latina Leadership Network,

I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. Today marks a significant moment for me as I step into the role of President of the Latina Leadership Network, an honor that fills me with humility and gratitude. Having journeyed through various roles within LLNCCC, from Database & Listserv Specialist to Treasurer and most currently Vice President of the North Region, I can say with utmost conviction that our organization holds a special place in my heart.

Our collective journey through the COVID-19 pandemic has been one of challenges and triumphs, adversity, and resilience. As we reflect on the past, we cannot ignore the profound impact the pandemic has had on our lives. It has tested our strength, disrupted our routines, and forced us to adapt to new ways of living and connecting. We have witnessed the toll it took on our communities, and we empathize deeply with those who have experienced loss and hardship during this time.

Yet, it is precisely these trials that have fortified our spirit and forged a profound bond within our community. We have come together with unwavering support, compassion, and determination, exemplifying the true essence of the Latina Leadership Network. Our shared empathy has been a guiding light, as we supported one another through thick and thin, showing that our strength lies in our unity.

Now, as your newly appointed President, I am committed to building upon the foundation of resilience that we have nurtured. Our goal this year is to reinvigorate and strengthen our organization, ensuring that we continue to empower Latina women throughout their educational and professional journeys. We aim to inspire more women to seek leadership roles in their campus communities and advocate for the present and future generations of mujeres in higher education.

In this pursuit, we shall remain steadfast in our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where each member feels valued, heard, and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We will expand our outreach, develop enriching programs, and foster mentorship opportunities to cultivate the leaders of tomorrow.

I firmly believe that together, we can achieve remarkable feats. Our diversity is our greatest strength, and through collective action, we can bring about meaningful change in the lives of those we touch and the communities we serve.  As we embark on this new chapter, I am excited to work alongside each of you, drawing from your invaluable insights, ideas, and experiences. Together, we will continue to uplift one another, celebrating our successes and supporting each other through any challenges that come our way.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of LLNCCC for placing your trust in me as your President. Together, we shall pave the way for a brighter future, not only for our organization but for all the incredible Latina women we represent.

Thank you once again for this opportunity, and I am looking forward to a fruitful and empowering journey ahead.

With warm regards,

Margarita Baez, MFT | mbaez@llnccc.org
