Open Positions

There will be an opportunity at the Region Area Meetings to ask questions about an appointed and elected positions. All interested parties in elected and appointed position must complete an application. Those running for an elected position please prepare a 2 minute speech to be given on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 7:30pm. Voting will be take place online.

Vice President for North/Central

  • Two-year term elected
  • Attends all Executive Board meetings and Executive Board retreat. If unable to attend, must provide electronic report to the President.
  • Chairs committees for Madrina Awards, Scholarships, and Employee Grants when conference is in her respective region.
  • Mentors and communicates with respective Student Vice Presidents, including in person quarterly meetings.
  • Collaborates and communicates with respective Region Area Representative, including in person quarterly meetings.
  • In collaboration with respective Region Area Representatives and Student VPs, maintains communication with regional membership to provide support for regional activities that are aligned with LLN goals.
  • Assists regions with respective area activities.
  • Submits a report at each Executive Board meeting that details the regional activities.
  • Promotes and upholds the Constitution and By-laws, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Assists the President with Implementing Plan of Action
  • Coordinates the regional meetings during the annual conference and provide the overview of the election process for vacant Executive Board member elected positions.

Regional Area Representatives Central/South

  • Two-year term elected by region.
  • Attends all Executive Board meetings and Executive Board retreat. If unable to attend, must provide electronic report to the President.
  • Identifies Campus Representative from each region campus.
  • Collaborates and communicates with respective Region Area VP and Student VP, including in person quarterly meetings.
  • In collaboration with respective Region Area VP and Student VPs, maintains communication with regional membership to provide support for regional activities that are aligned with LLN goals.
  • Submits reports of regional activities to the Executive Board 7 days prior to the board meeting.
  • Conducts a minimum of two regional meetings per year.
  • Maintains communication with region membership to create unity, support and collaboration.
  • Quarterly communication with regional VP and Student VP.
  • Support the development of LLN Chapters throughout the region (student and professional chapters).
  • Provides Database Specialist with new member contact information
  • Support the conference co-chairs when annual conference is in respective region.

Student Vice President: North/Central/South

  • One-year term elected at the annual conference
  • Attends and submits a report at all Executive Board meetings and Executive Board retreat. If unable to attend, must provide electronic report to the President.
  • Maintains contact with Latina/o student organizations to promote LLN in their region.
  • Aids in the development of new LLN chapters in their respective regions.
  • Must submit an article for each LLN Esperanza newsletter (Vice President and Region Area Representative to assist).
  • Maintains communication with other Student Vice Presidents.
  • Maintains communication with respective Region Area Representative and the Vice President
  • Promotes the annual conference and student scholarship by advertising through distributing flyers, sending e-mails, and utilizing social media.

Database Specialist

  • Appointed position with a minimum of two years.
  • Attends and submits a report at all Executive Board meetings and Executive Board retreat 7 days prior to the board meeting. If unable to attend, must provide electronic report to the President.
  • Maintains and updates LLN roster for active members, in collaboration with President-Elect
  • Collects and maintains past and present annual conference attendees.
  • Maintains herstorical membership information, in collaboration with the President-Elect (e.g. Madrinas, Scholarships, Grants, etc)
  • Maintains database of LLN memberships.
  • Distributes region membership data to Region Representatives for communication and promotion of LLN activities.
  • Receives and coordinates membership data from Conference Chair and Treasurer before Executive Board retreat.
  • Creates and updates LLN membership roster.
  • Assist conference committee by advertising the conference through distributing flyers, sending e-mails, and utilizing social media.
  • Collects organization’s documentation, forms, and photos to be maintained electronically for Executive Board use only.
  • Transfers registration contact information into LLN listserv from online conference registration.
  • Manages annual conference registration and collects payment on-site.

Member-at-Large North/South

  • Appointed one-year term with a maximum of 3 members (North, Central, South)
  • Appointed and approved by Executive Board.
  • Role will be mutually defined by Executive Board
  • Attends Executive Board meetings and Executive Board retreat, as requested by the Executive Board.
  • Must be California community college retiree, LLN alumni/former member, or community member.
  • Must be a dues paying member.
